Reading this forum tells me from Brooklyn back to Manhatten is the best view - right now we are planning on catching the subway from Lexington Ave to City Hall stop, walking across to Brooklyn, Grimaldi%26#39;s for pizza and back across the bridge. However, if we choose to just walk back is this our best bet.....we are staying at The Warwick - I%26#39;m guessing we would walk to the subway station at 42nd/Broadway and take the #2 train to Clark Street in Brooklyn. Catch a view from the Promenade. Then how far of a walk is it from there to Grimaldi%26#39;s?
Any suggestions/changes are welcome.
If we opt to walk Brooklyn Bridge only one way
You could also take the A or C to High street. Either way, you%26#39;re looking at a walk of about 1/2 mile--10 minutes.

Just make you sure you time things to walk back across the bridge at dusk. That%26#39;s the secret to 99% of the magic.
Whenever I lived along the Lexington line, I would take the 4 or 5 express train to Fulton St./Broadway-Nassau. I would then change to the A or C and take it one stop to High St. in Brooklyn. When you walk out of the High St. subway stop, you are at a pedestrian entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge. We would usually walk from there to Grimaldi%26#39;s first, however. It is a very short, easy walk. It is not a very attractive street, however; Clark St. might be more scenic route. I have never tried it, so I don%26#39;t know. You could walk easily from there to Grimaldi%26#39;s, the River Cafe, Jacques Torres%26#39;s Chocolates, the water front, etc.- and definitely very easily to the bridge.
I just copied this off one of Ruffian%26#39;s posts:
';You can take the A, C, or E to Borough Hall or the 2 or 3 to Clark Street. Make sure you explore Brooklyn Heights. The Clark St. station will let you off right in the middle of it. The Heights is a landmark residential neighborhood of old brownstone homes and tree-lined streets with old fashioned gas lamps. Walk down to the Promenade for the best views of Manhattan in all of New York. From there it%26#39;s about a 15-minute walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. The entrance is just off Tillary Street, easy to find with plenty of signs. At the other end of the Bridge is the Brooklyn Bridge subway station.';
Ruffian, if I were to get off at Borough Hall, would I be in this part of Brooklyn Heights you have described? If so, I might have to stay on one more stop on the A/C line the next time I make a trip there. I hope you don%26#39;t mind my plagiarism. I gave you credit, though!
TravelRN. High Street lets you off closer to the Bridge. The Jay Street-Borough Hall entrance is closer to the Heights. The Clark Street station on the 2 or 3 lets you off IN Brooklyn Heights itself. It%26#39;s the only station actually in the Heights.
Thanks for the credit.
Thank you Carpenter, TravelRN and of course Ruffian!! Hopefully I will be posting our two day :( itinerary shortly and would love lots of input!
