Both my boys are avid sports fans and as already posted we have tickets for the Basketball while in NYC, however, they would like to look round an NFL Stadium to see how it compares to the Football grounds they visit over here. Hopefully this is possible? Anyone any ideas as I can%26#39;t find the info on the web. I also agree a search would be great as I spent 3 hours going through pages the other night!!
NFL Fans coming to NYC
Your only practical possibility is Giants Stadium at The Meadowlands. It%26#39;s in East Rutherford, New Jersey and they do have tours. However, there is a catch. To participate in one of their tours you need to have your own transport (I believe because the complex is so large). You would almost certainly need a car to get there as well as buses from Manhattan only run if there is a game on. I tried to organise something this February but, in the end , the logistics defeated me. They do have a website however and if you go here: http://www.meadowlands.com/tours.asp?navID=7 you%26#39;ll find out all there is to know about their tours. Good luck!
NFL Fans coming to NYC
Thanks maidstoneNic, I was beginning to realise it would be difficult to arrange but my boys have told me there are 2 NFL teams in NY so hopefully the other one might be easier to sort out. I loved your report last night and we all laughed when you said Jack was stopped wearing a Gillingham shirt. We are coming to Gillingham on 16/04 for the game vs Crewe after we get back from NY on the 8th ready for Spurs vs Newcastle on 9th!! Any help to a fellow Brit would be much appreciated.
Your boys are half-right. There are 2 teams - the Giants and the Jets. The only problem is they ground share and both play at The Meadowlands. The Jets are hoping to build a new stadium in the city in a few years%26#39; time but I don%26#39;t think they can come up with enough cash. I did notice you can do a virtual tour - this might be as close as you can come to the real thing.
Hope you enjoy the Gills v Crewe - they%26#39;re on a high now having just disposed of Wigan (well, that%26#39;s Jack%26#39;s story and he%26#39;s sticking to it!).
To be pedantic, you might like to tell your boys that there is only one NFL team in New York and that%26#39;s Buffalo - the Giants and the Jets both play in New Jersey despite being the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Confusing isn%26#39;t it? (That%26#39;s why they named it twice)
Thanks going to watch Spurs beat Notts Forest now. Husbands laughed at your Bufalo comment!! But informs me its up state. Tell Jack it was a good win but we are still 9 points ahead and not in the drop zone.
