River Cafe?

After reading all the rave reviews of The River Cafe I had a look at the w/site. Looks fab!!!!!! How much would an average 3 course meal be? I%26#39;d like to go for my birthday (will be in NY for it) but don%26#39;t want to take out a mortgage for it. Also what%26#39;s the dress code for women?

Well ya might have to take out a mortgage, but heck it%26#39;s your birthday!! I read it is $78.00 a person, not including drinks. I am going with my 2 best friends, and am trying to convince them to go, cause it looks awsome, and everyone raves about it!!! Happy birthday to you!!!

Check the website again, click onto menu and the prices are there for lunch, brunch, dinner etc.

MEn need jackets for dinner, women dressy casual.

I am going on Thursday, will be wearing slacks %26amp; a nice top, and I will post a report.

Thanks, athough the ';happy birthday'; is a bit premature........it%26#39;s not %26#39;til September....thank god, because I%26#39;m the big (boo-hoo) 30! Am I right in thinking $78 is about 锟斤拷40-45. Would love to hear how you get on if you do manage to coax your pals into going.

That is why i am planning to be somewhere fun and exciting for my birthday and what better place in the world than NYC.

What date in September? mine is the 24th.

The River Cafe is a MUST. We went in January, for Sunday lunch - 2pm. The food is fantastic, definitely leave room for dessert. Try and book as far in advance as possible, and ask for a window table.

21st. Flying home the next day. I couldn%26#39;t think of anything more depressing than staying home for my 30th. Besides it%26#39;s a great way to avoid those embarrassing surprise parties, or worse still finding out there isn%26#39;t one. I%26#39;m doing all the overtime going at work so I can SPEND, SPEND, SPEND!!!!!!!!

so how long will you in NYC for?

i don%26#39;t know what the airfares are like from England to NYC but here they are huge.

About 锟斤拷400 from my local (ish) airport, which is twice what it would be from Heathrow. I figure that it would cost me and my mum about 锟斤拷100 each to get to Heathrow (train and hotel stay) so it%26#39;s not too bad. Do you have any idea what the weather is likely to be like in September? Hot, humid,sticky,mild? I%26#39;m hoping that it will be starting to cool down abit.

I can%26#39;t make out the $$ amount as it is showing in squares all i can see is 400 and im sure it wasn%26#39;t $400.. that would be a bargin if it was.

The cheapest i have found for September is $4858.60 for 2 tickets for my husband and I.

there are sales on now that finish in june and end of august. Wouldn%26#39;t you know september is one of the expensive months to visit.

Okay, did a few sums and I think your flight is around 1,800+ pounds, correct? Where as our flights are about 800 pounds for both of us. I will not be moaning about the cost of the flight from now on, that%26#39;s for sure. It%26#39;s a shame about airport tax which accounts for around 90 pounds each. I%26#39;ve a funny feeling I%26#39;ll be returning in two seats. All I keep hearing about on this forum is foooooooood!!!!!!! What better way to discover a country than with it%26#39;s food.
