are there discounts for longer stays?

Hi there

just looking at the prices for accommodation for an upcoming trip i am hoping to take in september.

Does the usa have discounts for 7 night stays? some places you stay 7 nights and the 7 night is free.

Is this heard of in the USA?

what is the norm that most people would stay in a place 5 days or 7 days?

any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

I am looking at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Tribeca. THe website has a room with private bathroom for

$129.00 plus tax = $148.58 per room, per night.

Do you think this would be the final cost? or are there other taxes ontop?

Iam in the process of emailing them.

My parents got a ';purchase 2 nights get one free'; deal at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square this past summer. Sometimes the larger chain hotels have that sort of deal. Try some of the major American chains such as Marriott, Ramada, Hilton, Holiday Inn, and the Choice hotel group. My best guess would be just to contact several of the hotels and see what they have to offer you.

Here are some other ideas-

1) Housing swap- I personally have never done this, nor do I know anyone who has, but it sounds cool! Check out www.craigslist.org. Click on ';New York City';, then underneath ';housing'; click on ';housing swap';. I know that would love a week in New Zealand! Maybe a New Yorker would want to switch places with you for a week.

2)Extended stay hotels- I know that someone else has recommended an extended stay hotel in this forum. Search the posts. They may be able to give you a discount for a longer stay. (I%26#39;m not sure if a week qualifies or not, but possibly.)

3) Time shares- Maybe I will have time to look into this a little more for you later. I know I read another post about someone having a time share week in NYC. Maybe someone else could fill you in on how to purchase a week. Those are usually offered one week at a time, and it is usually much cheaper that way.

Good luck!
