I am coming to NY with my partner for the first time in July and want to book tickets for La Cage aux Folles at the Marquis Theatre. I have looked on ticket master and at the moment I can get tickets for $100 each plus booking fee of $6. I am ok with the price but don%26#39;t know about the seats - is centre of row A of the Mezzanine level ok? It says that Row A overhangs row M of the Orchestra seats - will we have a good view? The other choice is Row B of the Orchestra stalls but I don%26#39;t want to be too close - should I go for Row A of the Meazzanine? Thanks

Most people would consider first row of the mezz prime seating and would jump at the chance. From this vantage you get a good view of dance numbers etc. I%26#39;ve looked at the seating chart here and find that row B of the orchestra (stalls) is actually the 4th row not the 2nd. If those seats are center, I personally would prefer those b/c I like being close to the action, but I might be in the minority. Here%26#39;s the seating chart.

Check to see if there are any discounts for this show on www.broadwaybox.com. If there aren%26#39;t, you might want to wait a while as it%26#39;s sure to be discounted by July. Even though it%26#39;s a wonderful show, and Gary Beach is a big name on Broadway (and Daniel Davis is well known to TV fans here), it%26#39;s not a runaway hit, so you shouldn%26#39;t have to pay full price. There are a lot of shows due to open in the next couple of months that will be the top tickets.
Thanks NY whiz and Bettina for your prompt replies. I know what you mean about waiting for the discounts but I%26#39;m worried if I do we won%26#39;t get such good seats. The trip is a surprise for my partner%26#39;s 50th birthday and I want everything to be perfect. I may wait a few weeks though. Thanks again, this forum is just so helpful, I;m having such fun planning everything - so hard keeping it all a secret until July though!!!
www.theatermania.com is offering discount codes for La Cage. You can get $100 tickets for $65. You have to join theatermania, but it%26#39;s free, and worth it to get $35 off each ticket.
IMHO, front row mezz is the best seat in the house. I will gladly pay $100+ for front row center mezz than any seat in the Orch. Pay the 100 plus whatever fees if this is a ';must see'; show. If you are flexable with shows and seats, then go to TKTS or wait for discounts at Ticketmaster. But if this is the one show you really want to see, pay and go.
