First-timers need advice

We will be visiting NYC for the first time in March and will only be there for 1 day and 1 night. For this reason we will need to stay in a very central location. Can anyone recommend a clean and comfortable, centrally located hoetl up to $160 per night. Please advise as we are clueless!!!

The only advice i can give you is that for your first time you need more thatn 1 day/1 night.

There is a lot to see and you don%26#39;t want to miss out on anything.

I have been looking for hotels and the best with good reviews and great price is this hotel.

$148.58 inc taxes for a double bed and private bathroom.

it is in the tribeca area it says which is close to soho etc..

the reviews on trip advisor say it is easy acess to everything as the sub way stops are close by.

As posted by the many experts on this site, and being you are only staying for 1 night, try the Belvedere. It is centrally located, near Times Square and the other sites that you can try to fit in in 1 day.

Check this site for info %26amp; details.

Thanks, NYCgirl. I have just checked on this site and the Belvedere sounds exactly what we need, However, one problem, there is no availability for that date. I have been advised to try Holiday Inn Midtown, can anyone advise on this hotel and is it near the sights or far off the beaten track. Anything similar to the Belvedere?

Try Hotel 41 and Travel Inn on 42nd St.

These are all worth a look -- Roosevelt Hotel, Crowne Plaza Times Square, Sheraton Manhattan or Sheraton Towers, Salisbury, Novotel.

Hi vickam

First of all greetings to South Africa. I had the pleasure of going to South Africa in December last year and we went on a safari near the Kruger Park and it was great.

My wife and I went to NYC for the first time in July last year. We did have more time than you so I%26#39;m not sure that I can give you great advice when you are on such a tight schedule. But I have posted a trip report with pictures from our trip to NYC on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there :-)

Have a great trip :-)

Regards

Gard

Hi there Gard,

I had a look at your website. Thanks so much for the mine of information. This will be really useful, even though we have a lot less time than you. I also had a look at your comments on Las Vegas which were also interesting as our brief stop over in N.Y is the final night of a 3 week trip to the U.S. Glad to hear you enjoyed S.A., I have also been to Djuma and found it fantastic. Another question, where do you board the Staten Island Ferry on the Manhattan side. Once again, congratulations on a fantastic web site
