Okay all you steak lovers--has anyone dined at Gallagers steak house.A friend of the family says its the best steak she ever put in her mouth,so my family and I made reservations in April.--let me know
Gallagers Rest.
I hate it. Almost any steak rest. in NY is better. How long ago did your friend go? It used to be great. Not any more.
Gallagers Rest.
My wife and I ate there in Feb of 04 while waiting to attend the taping of the David Letterman Show-what steak rest. do you recommend? we are staying at the Westin Times Square.
Well I should add NY Magazine doesn%26#39;t agree with me and still has it as one of it%26#39;s recos.
I suggest Wolfgang%26#39;s Steak

or The Post House. Both have what I consider great ambiance as well as excellent steak. BLT Steak is also supposed to be great but I haven%26#39;t been. Do you realize Shula%26#39;s steakhouse is in your hotel? I haven%26#39;t tried it though.
Whiz and I disagree here. Gallagher%26#39;s is my second favorite steak house--second only to Peter Lugar%26#39;s in Brooklyn--and I believe it%26#39;s the best value for the money, considering what you can pay for a good steak in New York. It has been in business forever and you don%26#39;t stay around that long in New York unless you are dealing out a good product. Go to Gallagher%26#39;s and enjoy!
We ate at Gallagher%26#39;s last time we were in NYC. Had an early dinner (5 p.m.) plenty of seating available, casual dress is OK, too. My one complaint is that the filet comes only in one size--14 ozs. My husband and I each ordered one and were surprised that we were able to finish it all! The steak was quite good and properly cooked. We started the meal with soup and ordered 2 side dishes, asparagus and hash browns. The asparagus was good, the hash browns, just so-so. It%26#39;s pricey--everything is ala carte but we considered it our splurge.
