salad eating

I had a really nice salad for lunch at Cosi..the branch I went to was on W42nd just opposite Bryant Park. They had a choice of dressings, and they also do the most delicious sandwiches..the bread is fantastic

I don%26#39;t know why, but I%26#39;m drawing a blank on salads! There are lots of lunch places with salad bars, and that%26#39;s where I usually get my salad fix, or at the Pret a Mangers that are all over Manhattan. But you probably get enough of Pret at home! Pretty good salads at Burger Heaven, there are a few of them around the city. And if you see a Comfort Diner, that%26#39;s good too.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get more responses. I%26#39;ll repost if I remember any more.

thanks again bettina

Hi Lynda,

I found %26#39; www.resturantrow.com %26#39; to be a helpful site, you search for your choice and you can get up the menus, reviews, directions, etc.

It might help you, it helped me some. Have a good trip.

thankyou travel maniac

La Bonne Soupe at 48 W.55th St. (between 5th and 6th) has great soups and salads. Also great bread with the soup, if you like bread. We had soup, bread, salad, dessert, and drink (coffee and iced tea) for less than $15 each.

In my experience, almost any place in NYC will have salads better than you get in the UK. You should try the Whole Foods market in the Time Warner building.

One of my favorite salads with meat is the La Scala salad at Joe Allen%26#39;s. (it has meat and cheese finely diced in with the lettuce)

As far as what to do when you arrive, either have a walk around the area of your hotel, or take a crosstown bus over to Times Square and walk around there. Depending on what day of the week it is, some of the museums are open late. On a Fri. the MOMA is free starting late afternoon. Walk over, stand in line and have a look.

There%26#39;s a nice bar at the top of the Beekman Towers hotel which is not far from the UN. Have a drink up there and watch the sun set.

For salads, try the Cafe Europa in several locations 1177 6th ave, 599 Lexington Ave, and 205 W57th St. these are casual, help yourself type places, yet gourmet type food--good sandwiches and desserts also. Try European Cafe on Broadway across from Lincoln center--between 62nd and 64th on right side of street as you go up Broadway--good salads, excellent pannini and THE BEST desserts. Again this is a small casual place, not too expensive. Also for casual take out (you can make a picnic for the park), yet great selection of very good things, try Zabars 2245 Broadway between 80th and 81st.
