Thoughts on Millenium UN Hotel?

Good area? Close to anything (shopping, Times Square, Central Park, etc...).

Also, how is the weather end of April/beginning of May?

Thoughts on Millenium UN Hotel?

The hotel is somewhat glamorous (lots of mirrors and glass) and is one of the few with an indoor swimming pool (with a great view). It isn%26#39;t all the convenient for traveling around, but I think a minor inconvenience. You have to walk a bit for a subway but there are buses nearby. If it%26#39;s a good rate, do it. You%26#39;d probably pay more for a slightly better location in a lesser hotel.

Look at wunderground.com Weather always changeable at that time of year.

Thoughts on Millenium UN Hotel?

I%26#39;m getting it for only $99 a night, and I know that%26#39;s a good rate...but I am just worried that I will be too far from everything. Say I wanted to take a cab to somewhere like...Grand Central Station. Or St. Patricks Cathedral. Approx. how much do you think it would be, per cab ride?

The Millenium UN Plaza is a fine hotel and $99 per night is a steal. It%26#39;s on 44th between 1st and 2nd Avenue, a bit off the beaten track. But you%26#39;re only two blocks from Grand Central Station, and once there you can take subways to wherever you need to go on the east side. There%26#39;s a shuttle subway that runs directly between Grand Central and Times Square. From there you can transfer to any subway you need for the west side. There are buses close by as well, but in New York, everybody walks. It%26#39;s the best way to see everything.

Hi Caligirl. I stayed at this hotel in December and would definitely stay there again. It%26#39;s slightly out of the way as it%26#39;s not close to a subway station. However, it%26#39;s only a 15 minute walk to Grand Central Teminal whch links up with most routes. The rooms are large, clean, quiet and comfortable and the views are awesome.

You can walk to Times Sq and most of the main shopping areas quite easily from the UN but it%26#39;s quite a long walk up to Central Park - doable if you%26#39;re fit and the weather%26#39;s nice.

I can%26#39;t say anything negative about the hotel. Have a great time!

i am going 1st week in march and will do a report

if thats ok so look out after 13th march

Thanks! Just one question-what is a shuttle subway?

The shuttle (designated by the letter S) runs between Grand Central and Times Square... it just goes back and forth 24 hours a day, and is always mobbed!

Even though I think the UN Plaza%26#39;s a bit too far east, I%26#39;d grab it for $99. It%26#39;s one of the few NY hotels I%26#39;ve actually stayed at, and it%26#39;s really a wonderful hotel.

Thanks! I don%26#39;t want to spend a lot, so this rate was perfect me. I was just concerned that I would make up for it in taking a taxi everywhere.

If I made my way over to Grand Central or St. Patricks Cathedral, I%26#39;d be within walking distance to everything else, right? What are cab fares like?

Hi Caligirl113. I also need a hotel within that price range. Please let me know where you booked the Millenium UN for that price.

Don%26#39;t worry about cabs, you can subway %26amp; bus it all over town. You can purchase a weekly unlimited card for $26.00, or purchase a per trip card, 2.00 per trip with a transfer within 2 hours of initial use (subway to bus, bus to subway, bus to bus).

You can walk almost anywhere, but some things are far, so the bus or subway will suffice. Depends what your needs are.

Only take a cab, IMO, if you are coming back to your hotel VERY late at night (and I don%26#39;t mean 9:00 PM)....public transportation is still crowded at that time.
